Tjiueza confident of making progress

The 22-year-old is determined to repay the faith shown in him by the club.
One of Namibia's leading young football prospects, Prins Tjiueza, has expressed confidence in elevating his future at his new club Cape Town City.
The 22-year-old Brave Warriors attacking midfielder, who has had a stint in a professional league in Europe, believes he is currently at the right club to support his growth as a player.
“I have enjoyed being here so far, even if it has not been that long.
“The football club has a great team spirit and I have been welcomed.
“I feel there is plenty of potential for me to really take my football career to the next level," Tjiueza told Sport Wrap.
The former national junior team prodigy caught the eye of the Cape Town team during the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
He was influential in helping Namibia reaching the round of 16 for the first in history.
His deal with City however almost failed after the player picked up an injury during the Afcon tournament.
Tjiueza was fortunate enough to recover, making it just in time to get his deal through for the upcoming season.
“The recovery process was not an easy one, but I am happy I did recover now and I am in a very good space.
“All I want now is to work hard and make sure I help my team. I hope that I can repay them with the trust they have given me,” Tjiueza noted.
Steady rise
Tjiueza began playing football at age 4 and in 2014 was named sportsman of the year for Immanuel Ruiters School at Walvis Bay. He joined his local premier league club Blue Waters FC when he was 11 years old. When the team rejoined the NPL in 2017, Tjiueza made his top-flight debut.
With six goals at the 2018 Cosafa U17 championship, Tjiueza was the tournament's top scorer as the team advanced to the semi-final before losing to Angola, before defeating Mauritius in the bronze with Tjiueza scoring the opening goal.
In 2020, Tjiueza again stood out during the U20 Cosafa Cup which saw Namibia advance to the final before a narrow 0-1 defeat to Mozambique. The result qualified Namibia for the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations for the first time.
In August 2022, Tjiueza joined KF Liria Prizren of the First Football League of Kosovo, before joining Cape Town City in June this year.
