Walvis Bay Golf Club hosted a club competition with a bogey plus format the past weekend with a field of 26 players competing for the prize money.

Willie van Zyl played good golf to win on seven with Nardo Sardinha placed second on five and Koot Potgieter finishing third on four. Willy was in good form and registered no less than three two clubs including one of which also gave him the closest to the pin money. It was indeed a good day at the office for him. Tienie de Wet also registered a two club.

A big weekend of golf awaits for sure and golfers can look forward to a quadruple header this weekend. Firstly, it is the last round for qualifying for the King Price International Pairs so make sure you enter. The regional playoffs will take place at our club on 3 August.

Secondly, the finals for the Race for Membership are happening where Nardo Sardinha, Amandio Sardinha, Johnny Borges and Pedro Fernandes will do battle for the big prize of membership and annual green fees [value N$4 000 and N$7 500).

Next up will be the fourth round of the Multisave Medal Mania with two scores to count and finally, the Multisave Medal competition.

Desert Rats leads the race in the Medal Mania with 24. JWM follows in second position on 22.2, with Young Guns 20.5, 3 Guys and a Trotter 20.2, Monkeys 19.5, Sluggers 18.7, Old Boys 16.2, Jack and Jill 16.2, Young Boys 13, H'Cap and Greens 12.5, Rolling Stones 12, Brady Bunch 10 and Coffee Pot 5.

Last week’s seniors competition was won by Rory Wolhuter, Anton Welgemoed, Bossie Bosman, Peter Davidson and Robbie Moyce with 109 points. The winner of the ‘brood’ was again, Tienie de Wet.

The members' draw was not won last week and neither Wynand Breytenbach nor John Gomes were present at 18:00. Wynand’s troubles did not end there as his name was drawn for the N$45 000 joker pool but he drew the king of clubs. Next week there will be 13 cards in the pack, so be there.

The "Return of the Night at the Races" is scheduled for 19 July. This is a popular event so make sure you are there for a night of fun. The action starts at 19:00, just after the Joker draw.
