Women's football back with a bang
Beauties, V-Power and Magic record fantastic wins
The FNB Women's Super League returned with a bang on Saturday afternoon.
On a hot and sunny Saturday at the Namibia Football Association Technical Centre in Windhoek's Katutura, three matches took place in the FNB Women's Super League.
In the first match of the day, Beauties FC beat Okahandja FC 7-2.
Okahandja FC scored the first goal of the day via Hilary Keiser, but their competitors - through a beautiful free kick by Nicole Philander - then scored the equaliser. This stabilised the Beauties side, which again scored a second goal through Diane Kock. This was followed by a third goal before half-time by Fiola Vliete.
In the second half, more goals rained down on the Okahandja side with Vliete scoring her second goal. On the other side, Okahandja received a penalty, which was scored by Mercialin Rooinasie.
But Beauties were not deterred and again landed another goal through Meagan Schuster. The sixth goal was an own goal by Ndevatita Kambo, the goalkeeper of Okahandja FC, as she tried to stop a free kick with her feet instead of just using her hands.
Vliete scored the seventh goal to conclude the match 7-2, recording a hat-trick.
Thrashing
The second match between the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) Babes FC and the V-Power Angels also proved to be really entertaining, with the latter thrashing the Nust Babes 5-0. In the first minutes of the first half and just seconds apart, Anna Ida Somses scored two goals. Linea Ndaameshime soon after found the net, and the fourth goal then came through from Unodjamo Kaetjavi.
It didn’t end there as Nancy Lebang scored the fifth goal to send her side into half-time on a high.
No goals were scored in the second half.
In the third match of the day, Tura Magic beat RightWay FC 8-1 to record the highest goal tally in the league.
The first goal came from Memory Ngonda in the sixth minute, a brilliant header by Lovisa Mulunga followed in the 11th minute while an excellent third from Thomalina Adams came in the 18th minute. Ivone Kooper scored the fourth goal just moments later in the 20th minute.
RightWay also pulled one goal through Chantell Muinjangue in the 26th minute, but after half-time Mulunga once again headed in another goal. Emma Naris followed up to score in the 73rd minute, while the 77th minute was another chance for Ngonda to add to her tally. After coming on as a substitute, Anna Shikusho also found herself on the score sheet.
In other matches in the Women's Super League, Galz & Goals defeated Nampol 1-0 at the Unam Field, while Arrows beat Namib Daughters 3-2 at the coast.
