The Katutura Sports Union (Kasu) Winter Cup tournament will take place this coming weekend at the Wanaheda and Khomasdal Stadium.
The tournament will see local football and netball teams competing for top prizes and trophies.
The chairman of the union, Kuveri Tjonga, says he is excited about the prospects the tournament will bring.
“The Kasu Winter Cup has always lived up to expectations and there is no difference this time around.
The competition will produce fireworks given that the teams are hungry for success and are raring to play quality football and netball.
“This competition is always interesting and intense given the rivalry that exists between the teams,” Tjonga said.
The teams interested in competing at the tournament are requested to pay an entry fee of N$1900 for both codes.
A team only entering a netball team will only pay N$1000.
The winners of the football games will walk away with N$10 000 plus a trophy and 20 medals, while the runners-up will take home N$5 000 and 20 medals.
The teams that bow out in the semi-finals will receive N$2 500 each for their efforts.
The winners of the netball competition get N$5 000 plus 20 medals, while those that lose in the final take home N$2 500.
The two teams that bow out in the semi-final stages will each get N$1 500 for their efforts.
The draw of the tournament will take place on 1 June at the St Barnabas Primary School at 18:00.
“We are going to make sure that all health protocols are observed knowing that we still live in very uncertain times.
“The good thing is that the spectators have been made used to taking care of themselves and we will not have to stress much about it.
“All I can do now is to invite all teams that are interested to come and compete for top honours,” Tjonga said.
