Top Score Samora Cup for the locals

The organiser of the Top Score Samora Cup, Elia ‘Bomma’ Kandjabanga, has lauded the maize meal brand for making the dreams of people from informal settlements a reality by sponsoring the cup.
The competition took place at the Samora Soccer Field in Hakahana, with Ondobe Eleven FC beating Lions FC 3-0 in the final to win the competition.
“We are extremely grateful towards Top Score for recognising informal settlement and sponsoring us given that this has made the dreams of these footballers a reality.
“This tournament is very important since it brings fun and enables talented footballers to showcase their skills on such a platform.
“I also want to thank the fans and players that came in their numbers to watch the tournament,” Kandjabanga said.
Kandjabanga’s Ondobe Eleven FC took an unassailable 2-0 lead early in the second half before scoring a third in the last minutes.
The Lions attempted to roar back but their efforts to save the game went astray as Ondobe completed a great tactical display to win the match.
“The guys played extremely well in this match even though there were times the Lions gave us a tough time in the first half.
“The hard work in training coupled with team however ensured we take the title,” team captain Kandjabanga said.
United Boys took the third place after beating Citi United 5-1 in the playoffs.
Top Score’s Shawapala Kandjabanga said he was happy with the way the tournament went and the commitment from the teams.
“It is an honour to sponsor this event and we are satisfied with how the tournament went.
“Top Score came on board because we want to support local football and making sure that people in this settlements have an opportunity to play,” he said.
The winners of the tournament walked away with N$10 000, while the runners-up took home N$7000.
The third-place finishers were compensated with N$3000 for their efforts.
